Rev.3:14
“To the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These
things say the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the
beginning of the creation of God;
v.15
I know your works, you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were
cold or hot.
v.16
So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue you out of My mouth.
v.17
Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and
have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched,
miserable, poor, blind and naked:
v.18
I counsel you to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that you
may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed,
and that the shame of your nakedness does not appear;
and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
v.19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore,
and repent.
v.20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him,
and he with Me.
v.21
To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with Me in My throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His
throne.
v.22
He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
________
The Last Day Laodicean Church.
Jesus is telling the Laodicean Church they are a proud
self-righteous group. Wealthy with material possessions.
Their primary emphasis is on financial matters, organization
and works.
They have zeal. A lot of intensity of feeling and expression,
but its all about booing and cheering.
A lot of thunder and lightning , but no rain.
They have very little communion with God. Not much in depth Bible study and they lack knowing God through His Word.
Most of their activities are largely mechanical and of a social character. Committees and clubs are numerous but there is an absence of spirituality.
They are caught up in emotionalism. They have confused the
emotional with the Spiritual this is why Jesus referred to them as lukewarm.
The sad thing is the church sees itself as being spiritually rich,
but Jesus said, it is wretched, miserable, poor, naked and blind.
The church is into repairing and fixing up the person emotionally, psychologically, and physically rather than dying to self and
allowing spiritual growth to take place.
The attention is on physical needs rather than spiritual. They
are all about self-help, wealth, psychology and emotionally
energizing one another.
They seek after the miraculous to boost their emotions. They
emphasize reform and patching up of themselves instead of death
to self. Because of the emphasis on feelings, emotions, self, wealth
and prosperity, the Pentecostal and charismatic Church has
developed into the end time Laodicean church.
Because of the emphasis placed on emotions women play a
predominant part in the end time church. The Word of God is clear
on a woman’s place in the Church, but Laodicea is more in tune with
the world and its system than with the Word of God.
Jesus says they appeal to the emotional and have become shallow.
He warns the church about being lukewarm, because of their
hypocrisy. Jesus is referring to the true attitude of their heart here
and not outward professions.
The shallow Christianity in charismatic churches on TV and radio
today is not the spirituality that Jesus desires from it.
All the showmanship of falling down on the floor slain in the spirit, uncontrolled laughter, wild gibberish, and emotional hype is not of the Holy Spirit, but is designed to appeal to the flesh and the old prideful nature. Many of the worship sessions are nothing more than a
three-ring circus. Many young people attend for the purpose of entertainment and curiosity. Many of the performers are simply
caught up in emotion and induced states of uncontrollable actions.
They do bizarre things claiming to be spirit-filled. Jesus will vomit
them out of His mouth.
They say, “I am rich, increased with goods and have need of nothing!” They don’t know they are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and
naked.
This church thinks they are living wonderful Christian lives with their large luxurious buildings, stained glass windows, and large land
interests. The members think their wealth is also a reflection of their spiritual condition. They are not aware of their true spiritual condition.
Jesus said, they are:
1st, Wretched, because they have not endured the trials to test them.
2nd, Miserable, because they are to be pitied.
3rd, Poor, because they have no spiritual rewards stored up in heaven.
4th, Blind, because they do not have spiritual insight, which comes
from a study of the Scriptures.
5th, Naked, because they have not made the necessary preparation for
the wedding by providing for themselves the wedding garment of
good works.
The Laodicean church by and large has not distinguished between the works of the flesh and the works of the Spirit.

“But the hour comes, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in
truth: for the Father seeks such to worship Him.
