GOD’S SEVEN DEFINITIONS OF SIN

(1) 1 Jn.3:4

"Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Law. For sin is the transgression
 of the Law."

Gal.3:19

"Wherefore then serves the Law? It was added because of transgressions,"

1 Tim.1:9,10

"Knowing this, that the Law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless
 and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for
 murderers, whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind
 (homosexuals, kidnappers, men stealers) ..."

Jas.2:11

"He hath said: do not commit adultery, said also: do not kill. Now, if thou commit
  no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the Law,"

(2) 1 Jn.5:17

"All unrighteousness is sin."

  Unrighteousness is wrong and sinful conduct un-lawful behavior, injustice 
  Actions!

Lev.19:15

"Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of
  the  poor, nor honor the person of the mighty; but in righteousness shalt thou judge
  thy neighbor.

Lev.19:35,36

"Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard (a yard-stick) in weight,
  or in measure, just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and just hin, shall ye have,

  I AM THE LORD your GOD."

Deut.25:13-15

"Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small, but thou shalt
  have a perfect and just weight and measure."

Jere.22:13

"Woe unto him that builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by
  wrong; that uses his neighbor’s service with out wages, and gives him not for
  his work."

Rom.1:18

"The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
  unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness."

2 Pet.2:13-15

“And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to
     riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their
     own deceiving while they feast with you;

  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable
     souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of
     Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;”

(3) Jas.2:9

"If ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin.

 Showing favoritism or partiality is a sin.

Jas.2:1-9

"My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of Glory with
  respect of persons. If there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in
  goodly apparel, and also a poor man in vile (dirty, cheap, shabby) raiment; and ye
  have respect to him that wears the gay clothing, ..."

Deut.16:19

"Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift;
  for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous."

(4) Jas.4:17

"To him that knows to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

  Not to do what we already know to be right, is a sin.

  The sins of omission are seldom mentioned or even thought of by most
  christians.

  The Lord Jesus dealt with this sin of omission in Jn.9:41

  Sins against knowledge are more Punishable.

Jn.9:41

"Jesus said unto them: If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say,
 We see, therefore your sin remains." Because they knew but didn’t do.

Jn.15:22

"If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin; but now they have
 no cloak for their sin.

Lk.12:47,48

"That servant which knew his Lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did   
  according to His will, shall be beaten with many stripes, but he that knew not,
  and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes."

Jas.1:22

"Be ye doers of the Word, ..."

(5) Rom.14:23

"For whatsoever is not of Faith is sin."

 Most people do not treat fear, worry, or doubting as sinful, but it is!

Lk.12:29

"Seek not ye what ye shall eat or drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind."

Mk.11:23

"I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and
  be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
  those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

Ac.11:12

"The Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting.

1 Tim.2:8

"I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath
 and doubting."

"The thought of foolishness is sin."

 We can be condemned, damned or judged for our thoughts.

Gen.6:5

"God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
  imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Mk.7:21-23

"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries,
 fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, an evil eye, blasphemy,
 pride, foolishness."

Prov.23:7

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

Eph.5:3-5

"But fornication, all uncleanness, covetousness, filthiness, foolish talking, Jesting, ...
  this ye know no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man hath any   
  inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God."

 Ac.8:22

"Repent of this thy wickedness, and pray God if the thought of thine heart may
  be forgiven thee."

(7) Prov.21:4

"An high look, and a proud heart is sin."

Prov.6:16-19

"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination to Him:
  a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that
  devises wicked imagination, feet that run to mischief, a false witness speaking
  lies, and he that sows discord among brethren."

Prov.8:13

"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, the evil way, the forward
  mouth, do I hate."

Prov.16:18

"Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Mk.7:21-23

The enemy attacks us under three general forms:

1.      1. As the subtle serpent to: beguile our senses, pervert our judgment and to enchant

     our imagination.

           “All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride

             of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 Jn.2:16

2.      2. As an angel of light to deceive us with false views of spiritual things, to deceive

     us with refinements in religion and presumption on the providence and grace of God.

           “No marvel; for Satan himself is transformed (fashions himself) into an angel of light.

             2 Cor.11:14

3.     3.  As a roaring lion, to bear us down and destroy us by violent opposition, persecution,

     and death.

           “Be sober, (minded) be vigilant;  (watch, stay awake, watch for  danger, trouble)

             because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he

             may devour: (gulp down). 1 Pet.5:8

            The Good News is found in  2 Cor.2:11

            “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
