To intercede in prayer and in the authority of Jesus is one of the greatest
needs and obligations we have as Christians. 

"Beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the
 Holy Ghost," Jude 20  

The two aspects of intercession are:

1) To intercede to God through Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2) To stand against satan, demons, sickness, ungodly circumstances etc.
on behalf of others, before God through Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Praise God for the Lord Jesus.                                        

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Holy Spirit, and watching
  thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints,"  Eph.6:18
