Email, … Just what exactly is a carnal Christian?
There are three kinds of believers:
1. A Carnal believer. “Worldly”
2. A Spiritual believer. “Mature” 1 Cor.3:1; Rom.8:5-7
3. An Overcomer. “Victorious” 1 Jn.2:13,14; 4:4
________
Carnal means
Relating to or given to crude bodily pleasures and appetites. Marked by sexuality carnal love. Seen with carnal eyes. Having a worldly, carnal mind.
synonyms
carnal, fleshly, sensual, animal. Having a relation to the body.
Actions or manifestation of a person's lower nature. Like an animal, Functions only through the five senses.
Slave to carnal desires.
A saint, who experiences fleshly temptations. A bodily desire or pleasure. A sexual appetite without the spiritual or intellectual.
A fleshpot. Sensual delights. Lust.
A mindless animal existence.
Seven marks of a carnal Christian (believer).
1. Carnally-minded Rom.8:5-7
“They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The carnal mind (fleshly) or (earthly) is one that thinks mostly of physical, material things, that are seen, appetites that pertain to what the Bible calls, “the old man,”
________
2. Carnally-limited
1 Cor.3:1
“I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
Christians who haven’t grown or are not growing in grace.
It’s a form of deathbed or foxhole religion.
They are at a standstill.
They don’t understand that Salvation is a beginning, not an end.
They have no testimony. Do not a witness for God. Don’t study God’s Word. Never talk about Jesus or fellowship with God’s people.
________
3. Carnally- weak 1 Cor.3:2
“I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.”
________
4. Carnally-tilted (learning) 1 Cor.3:3,4
“Ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife,
and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?”
________
5. Carnally-bound Rom.7:14
“We know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.” Restricted from doing what I ought to be doing for Christ.
________
6. Carnally opposed to God Rom.8:7,8
“The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject (submissive) to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” ________
7. Carnally-Disposed (put on the self). Gal.6:7,8 ”Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reapcorruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
Paul had a grave concern about himself. So he said,
“I keep under my body (my fleshly nature, my Adam nature) and bring it into subjection (to the Holy Spirit in me) lest that by any means, when I have preached to others. I myself should be a castaway.” (throw away).

Email, ... can you give me some insight as to why the message of repentance is not out in the forefront of the church?
REPENT! Now there’s a word we don’t hear much in church anymore. “Sinners,” have been reclassified by the church as “seekers,” so as not to give them the impression, they’re destined for an eternity in Hell.
We have a lot of “Cotton Candy Christians.” They rely on feelings and human relationships rather than the Word of God.
Cotton candy is pink, fluffy, inviting and delicious. When you bite into it, it dissolves into a sugary sweet nothingness. There’s little or no food value to it. You just get a pink tongue, rotten teeth, sticky lips and a brief burst of artificial energy. It gives everyone around you the impression that you are a happy and healthy person without a care in he world. The fact is you can starve to death on it, no matter how much you eat.
They think they’re saved, because they feel full. The only thing they’re full of is the sugary sweet nothingness of self-esteem. It ends in spiritual starvation. “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Prov.16:25
Many of the new Bible versions have replaced “repent” with the word “change.”
We cannot change ourselves enough to please God. The Lord doesn’t want an upgraded version of the same person. He wants a new man and a new woman. We cannot fabricate this with self-help books and human initiative.
The new person comes through a total and complete surrender of the heart and life to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith.
The church makes light the seriousness of sin and the need to repent. It invites the lost to just connect with Jesus. There is no “connecting” with Christ until sinful man. acknowledge his sin, repents and forsakes it under the power of the Holy Spirit. The church has changed dramatically over the years, but God has not. Neither has His message to sinful man.
John's message is, "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Mt.3:2 The message of Jesus is, "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Mt.4:17 and "Now God commands all men everywhere to repent." Ac.17:30
God's message for the world today is, "But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." Jn.1:12,13
" Behold, now is the day of salvation." 2 Cor.6:2
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Cor.5:17

Fiery Trials “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:” 1 Pet.4:12
The fiery trail (called the burning) is an example of the Christians at Pontus having fire cast upon them for the trying of their faith.
Peter urges us to behave with patience and integrity when we come under severe persecution:
1. He tells us, its not a strange or unusual thing for us to be persecuted. 2. If we suffered here as Christ did, then we will one day soon be glorified with Him. 3. We have the power of the Holy Spirit for our comfort and support. 4. Its an honor for us to suffer for being a Christian. 5The afflictions begin with us, but the weight of the storm will fall upon the unbelievers.
From these five considerations he encourages us to persevere in our faith and trust all events with God.
Lets continue to remind one another from 1 Pet.1:7 “The trail of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
